A trip on the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway transports you above deep canyons and breathtaking terrain a distance of 2.7 miles.
On our honeymoon, we took this tram and were delighted. We were in town for the hot air balloon show and the scenery steals the show on the Sandia Peak Tramway.
Located on the eastern edge of Albuquerque, New Mexico’s largest city, the Tram is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Central New Mexico.
We went at night to sneak in one last item before our flight but it is a spectacular view – 11,000 square miles of the Land of Enchantment.
You ascend 4,000 feet in about 15 minutes, gliding along the western face of the rugged Sandia Mountains. You can spot an eagle or a mule deer or perhaps a black bear as they look out the windows of the cable car into the deep canyons.
This is family friendly depending on the age of the children – be aware of potential lineups for this popular destination.
At the top you can see many vistas but I wish their was more of a tourist information center for more information.
